Powerball and Mega Millions are coming to Mississippi

The Mississippi Lottery recently announced the sale of multi-state lottery tickets will begin on January 30, 2020.

The incorporation of multi-state lottery tickets comes as no surprise as the success of scratch off tickets has been unprecedented since Mississippi became a lottery state on November 25.

Thus far, total scratch-off sales have exceeded $30 million in just three weeks.

Powerball and Mega Millions tickets will be available for purchase at 1,200 retailers across the state. See how to play the popular lotto games below.

 How to play Powerball

  1. Pick your number of plays: each slip has five play areas labeled from A-E with boxes numbered 1-69 in the upper, white play area and 1-26 in the lower, shaded play area. Up to five sets of numbers can be played with each play costing $2.00.
  2. Pick your numbers: choose any five numbers 1-69 and one powerball number 1-26 in each play area, or select the quick play option to allow the terminal to choose for you.
  3. Play multiple drawings: mark the appropriate multi-draw box to play your chosen numbers. Your chosen numbers can be played for up to ten consecutive drawings.
  4. Add Power Play: a player can add a powerplay to his or her slip for an additional $1.00 per play. Adding this feature could multiply one’s winnings.
  5. Buy your ticket: Fair warning–powerball tickets cannot be cancelled once purchased.
  6. Check to see if you won: weekly drawings are on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

How to play Mega Millions
