This fall, Eli Manning will become the third Rebel and the second member of his family to have his number retired at Ole Miss.

The youngest Manning brother’s #10 will officially be retired during a ceremony when Ole Miss hosts Auburn on September 19th.

“We couldn’t be prouder or more excited to officially add Eli’s No. 10 to its rightful place among the retired jersey numbers in our football history,” Ole Miss AD Keith Carter said. “Like Chucky and Archie, Eli left an indelible impact on our program and the game of football as a whole. His dedication, humility and kindness over the course of his career epitomizes what it means to be a Rebel, and we look forward to celebrating him as a player and a person.”

Prior to winning two Super Bowls with the New York Giants, Manning became the Rebels’ all-time passing leader with 10,119 yards and 81 career TD passes. In all, the eventual top-pick in the 2004 NFL Draft set or tied 47 program single?game, season and career records during collegiate career from 2000-03.

As a senior, Eli capped off his time in Oxford by leading the Rebels to a win in the Cotton Bowl while being named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year. Eli also won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, the Maxwell Award and finished third in the 2003 Heisman Trophy vote.

Eli follows in the footsteps of his father, Archie, whose #18 is retired alongside Chucky Mullins’ #38. Currently, Mullins’ number is honorarily worn by a defensive senior each season.

“I owe so much credit to the coaches and all the wonderful teammates that I had here during my time in Oxford that put in all the hard work right alongside of me,” Eli said. “It’ll be special to see the number go up there next to my dad and Chucky Mullins.”

Following a 16-year career with the Giants, Eli announced his retirement following the 2019-20 season. The four-time Pro Bowler finished his career 6th in NFL history in terms of yards (57,023) and touchdown passes (366).

Currently in Oxford, both QB John Rhys Plumlee and LB Jacquez Jones each wear #10.
